Accounting Specialist

We are seeking candidates passionate about a challenge and an opportunity to make a big impact within a startup. Joining the Jack and Sage team, you will be immersed in an exciting startup environment of growth and passion.

Start Date: ASAP

Compensation: $32-$35/hr (DOE)

Hours: 10-15 hours/week, with the possibility of becoming full-time in the next 12 months.

Location: Denver, CO In-Office/Hybrid

Responsibilities

Bookkeeping

  • Accounts Receivable and Collections

- Collect and process payment from customers. Contact overdue invoices and communicate until payment received.

  • Accounts Payable Management

- Process bill payments using bill.com and wires from our banking online platform.

  • Expense categorization

- Use bank feeds and manual expense entry on a daily or weekly basis to keep work load manageable

  • Monthly Reconciliations

- Reconcile bank account and credit card accounts monthly within 15 days of close

  • Assist in resolving any discrepancies or issues in financial records.

Controller

  • Employee Onboarding and Offboarding

- Ensure all employee HR paperwork is complete and accurate in Gusto platform

  • Payroll

- Process salaried payroll and hourly payroll twice a month

- Process reimbursements with payroll

  • Taxes

- Report and file monthly, quarterly and annual taxes

  • Benefits

- Oversee and manage benefits programs for employees (PTO, healthcare, work from home)

  • Commission Payment

- Monthly sales commissions reporting and payment

Licensing Management

  • Assist with Collegiate Licensing requirements which includes but is not limited to:

- Product approvals through CLC systems

- Sample approvals of products

- Monthly sales and royalty reporting

- Payment of royalties

Qualifications

  • Excellent knowledge of accounts receivable and accounts payable processes.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.

  • An associate degree in Accounting or a related field is required for this role.

  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, with excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
